LEDA F SHARP

Leda F. Sharp was born in Trenton, Grundy County, Missouri to George W. & Alvena (Maxey) Sharp on December 17, 1903.  She married Roy Eugene Harness in 1920 and they lived their married life in Ottumwa, Wapello County, Iowa.  Roy was a fireman for the railroad and Leda was a homemaker.  They had 4 daughters, Violet Mae Badey (8/22/1922-12/11/1993 Houston, TX) Ardyce L. Copeland (8/3/1934-1/22/2002 Galesburg, IL) Charlotte Ann Johnson (7/3/1937-8/23/2011 Riverside, CA) and one daughter, still living.  Roy passed away in 1970 and Leda continued living in Ottumwa.  She was a charter member of the First Church of the Open Bible.  She is buried in Shaul Cemetery in Ottumwa along with Roy.  

Roy Eugene Harness was born in Ottumwa, Iowa to William F. & Hattie Harness on October 19, 1902 and passed away March 23, 1971.  He is buried in Shaul Cemetery in Ottumwa along with Leda.

CENSUS

1910 - Jefferson, Grundy County, MO - Leda is living with her parents and 8 siblings.

1920 - Jackson, Grundy County, MO - Leda is living with her parents and 8 siblings.  She is not in school but knows how to read and write.  She is working on the farm as a "laborer".

1930 - Ottumwa, Wapello County, Iowa - Leda is living with her husband Roy and 2 daughters.  She is listed as a homemaker, she is able to read & write.  Her first marriage was at 17 years of age. The family is renting a home for $20 per month.

1940 - Ottumwa, Wapello County, Iowa - Leda is living with her husband Roy and 4 daughters.  She is not listed as working and the highest grade in school completed was 8th grade.  The family own their home and it is the same place they lived in 1935.

1950 - Ottumwa, Wapello County, Iowa - Leda is living with her husband, Roy and 3 children.  Roy is working as a railroad engineer, they are living at 1427 E Fourth in Ottumwa, Iowa.
