LOYD RAY SHARP

LOYD RAY SHARP

Loyd Ray Sharp was born on March 16, 1898, in Hickory, Grundy County, MO to George W. & Alvena (Maxey) Sharp.  He married Alma Martha Worboys on November 26, 1921, in Chillicothe, Livingston County, MO.  They had four children, Harold Lloyd (12/30/1925-8/23/2006), Howard Wayne (7/9/1927-10/3/2018), Garnet Alma Klinginsmith (12/19/1928-11/27/2015) and Owen Dale (11/21/1931-6/2/2008).  Six other children died at birth or shortly after: Douglas Ray, Valeta Fay, Nina May, Alvena, Albun and Jerry Lee.

In trying to find work, Loyd and Alma moved to Rock Island, Illinois where Harold and Howard were born in 1925 and 1927, respectively.  They moved back to Farmersville, Grundy County, MO where Garnet was born in 1928.  Loyd had asthma and due to health concerns, the family moved to Peoria, Maricopa, Arizona in 1930 where Loyd found work on a farm.  By 1931, they were back in Hickory Creek, Grundy County, MO, where Owen was born.

In June, 1939, Loyd developed bronchopneumonia and died at his parents home in Trenton, Grundy County, MO on July 7, 1939.  Loyd is buried in Plainview Cemetery in Chula, Missouri, along side his wife Alma.

Alma Martha Worboys was born on May 25, 1902 in Livingston County, MO to Arthur George and Minnie May (Hayes) Worboys.  She had one sister, Edna Malinda Worboys (Oliver) and one brother, Dewey Worboys.   After her husband Loyd died, she remarried twice. She married Charles Edward Caddell (7/26/1869-1/22/1951) on May 25, 1948 in Benton, Arkansas, and after his death, married Guy Caddell (1/5/1892-2/16/1962) on December 8, 1955 in Chillicothe, Livingston County, MO.  Alma died September 2, 1989 in Trenton, Grundy County, MO and is buried along side Loyd in Plainview Cemetery in Chula, MO.
