LEWIS CASPER SHARP

Lewis Casper Sharp was born near Hickory, Grundy County, MO on November 2, 1901 to George W. and Alvena (Maxey) Sharp.  He spent most of his early life in Grundy County, Missouri, living for 3 years in Kansas City, Missouri before moving to Michigan in the early1930's.  He married his wife Grace L. McCarthy in Michigan, and they spent 26 years in Dearborn, Michigan.  He was employed at the Veterans hospital in Dearborn, Michigan, where they lived.  Lewis and Grace did not have any children, but Grace had children from a previous marriage.

Lewis was also known as Louis C. Sharp or Jack Sharp in Dearborn.  Lewis died on February 5, 1960 having having a heart attack en route home from work.    Lewis is buried in Parkview Memorial Cemetery in Livonia, Wayne County, Michigan.  

Grace L. McCarthy was born March 13, 1905 in New York.  Her husband's obituary states that he is survived by his wife Grace and 3 stepchildren so she was married once before, but her maiden name is unknown.  Grace died November 2, 1972 and is buried in Parkview Memorial Cemetery in Livonia, Michigan with Lewis.

CENSUS

1910 - Jefferson, Grundy County, Missouri - Lewis living with his parents and 8 siblings.  He is in school and can read and write.

1920 - Jackson, Grundy County, Missouri - Lewis is living with his parents and 8 siblings.  He is working on their farm as a farm laborer.

1930 - Could not find a census report for 1930, but the 1940 census shows that Lewis and Grace were living in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan in 1935.   His obituary states that he lived in Michigan for 26 years, calculating he moved to Michigan in the early 1930's.

1940 - Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan - Lewis is living with his wife Grace.  The census states they are renting and living at the Belerest Apts.  Lewis is working as a supervisor/hospital attendent and Grace is working as a waitress.  They both indicated they completed school through the 8th grade.

1950 - Dearborn, Wayne County, Michigan - Lewis is found under Louis Sharp.

He and his wife Grace are living at 2121 Geneva, Dearborn, Michigan.  Lewis is working as a hospital supervisor at the County Hospital and Grace is working as a press punch operator in the auto parts manufacturing industry. 

BURIAL AND OBITUARY

Lewis and Grace are both buried in Parkview Memorial Cemetery in Livonia, Michigan.  There are no online records but a representative from Parkview confirmed to me that they are both buried there beside each other.  The Last Supper Garden, Section 160, Graves 4 and 3.
